Ray Chapin

English and Drama

Before coming to Thetford Academy in 2001, Ray Chapin taught English and drama at Rivendell Academy. Ray has a Bachelor of Arts in literature and a Master’s degree in education from Lyndon State College.

Ray loves the energy and creativity of the Thetford Academy students. “It is a pleasure to collaborate with theater students on productions, and gratifying to work with English students to help them improve their writing. Thetford Academy is special for its sense of community and attention to the individual needs of its students. For a small school, students are able to study a wide variety of subjects.” Ray also appreciates Thetford’s strong commitment to the arts and often produces plays for the local community theater.

Ray is an avid fly fisherman and enjoys taking walks with his Kuwaiti desert dog.

“Consider that the mind is capable of an endless growth.”—Asa Burton, one of the founders, urging citizens of Thetford to establish TA in 1819
