Karen Heinzmann

French and Math

Madame Heinzmann teaches French and, occasionally, math at TA. She has been with Thetford Academy for nearly 25 years, taking a break to live in Paris from 2001 to 2004 and to Nordic ski the Catamount Trail from end to end in 2014. “I love TA so much, I keep coming back.”

Madame Heinzmann holds a BA in French with education from Dartmouth College and an MA in French from Middlebury College.

She appreciates Thetford Academy’s “long tradition of putting students at the heart of everything we do.” She also loves “seeing our kids come out in droves to volunteer for the Woods Trail Invitational Run and the Vermont State Cross Country Championships. Their enthusiasm, efficiency, and commitment make it possible for us to pull off some of the premier cross country events in the country.”

“Consider that the mind is capable of an endless growth.”—Asa Burton, one of the founders, urging citizens of Thetford to establish TA in 1819
