Jane Chambers

French and Spanish

Jane Chambers has taught students from sixth grade through community college, from the Upper Valley to Pennsylvania, from Alaska to Colorado, and back to the Upper Valley. She holds a BS in secondary education from the University of Vermont and an MA in French from Middlebury College.

Jane joined TA’s staff in 2002 and recently won the Thetford Academy Employee of the Year award. Jane has led tours to France and Spain for more than 30 years and has traveled extensively in Costa Rica and Peru.

In addition to her students (“who are the best”), Jane’s favorite things about TA are the beautiful campus and wonderful traditions, “especially Mountain Day, where we all climb a mountain that we can see from campus, together.”

In her spare time, Jane enjoys cycling, swimming, skiing, exercising her dogs, and music.

“Consider that the mind is capable of an endless growth.”—Asa Burton, one of the founders, urging citizens of Thetford to establish TA in 1819
