Gregory Mellinger

Instrumental Music Teacher

Greg Mellinger joined Thetford Academy in 2006. He’s lived in Vermont since 1988, leading the fine arts department and serving as director of bands at Woodstock Union High School for 14 years. Prior to coming to TA, he also led the music programs at Hartford Middle and High Schools.

Greg earned his degree in music education at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and has completed post-graduate work at the University of Connecticut. At TA, Greg finds students enthusiastic and eager to participate in music performances and related opportunities. “They are open minded and enjoy challenging themselves to achieve higher levels of proficiency.”

When he isn’t teaching, Greg moonlights as a professional freelance musician and enjoys photography, gardening, reading, and outdoor activities.

“Consider that the mind is capable of an endless growth.”—Asa Burton, one of the founders, urging citizens of Thetford to establish TA in 1819
