Instrumental Music
Grade: 9-12
Credits: 1/2

Instrumental ensembles meet daily for a half block and perform concerts in December and May and at various assemblies and celebrations throughout the school year. Concert attendance is mandatory and is part of the student’s grade for the course.
Students will learn and perform music of various styles and eras. Emphasis will be placed on developing music reading skills, learning basic improvisation techniques, understanding how to rehearse, following leadership directions, playing as a member of an ensemble and as a soloist, and performing at culminating events in a formal manner. Time will be spent on learning basic music theory and how to apply it to the instrument. Instrumental Ensembles is open to all students at Thetford Academy.
