Challenge Course

Experiential | Independent Learning
Grade: 9-12
Credits: 1/4 to 1 (High School Students Only)

A Challenge Course gives Thetford Academy students the opportunity to dive deeply into a topic of interest. Any topic not currently offered in TA’s curriculum will be considered for approval. In a Challenge Course, students will design and plan their own course of study. They will learn time and task management skills, learn to evaluate their own work and progress, and practice sharing results through presentation and/or publication.
High school students are eligible for one-quarter elective credit per 30 hours of Challenge Course work, up to one graduation credit per year. A Challenge Course is in addition to the regular schedule of a student in grades 9-12 and will not be considered a means of reaching full-time student status. A successfully completed Challenge Course will appear on a student’s transcript as “P” for Pass with the appropriate amount of credit. If no credit is earned, the course will not appear on the transcript. Challenge Course proposals are accepted at any time and may conclude at any time. Visit the Counseling Office for more details.
