Full-Time Custodial Supervisor

Thetford Academy announces a search for a full-time Custodial Supervisor, who will assist in the management and supervision of the daily operations of Thetford Academy and Thetford Elementary School’s custodial staff; perform the duties of custodians in their absence; perform essential maintenance as directed by the Director of Buildings and Grounds; and assist in the coordination of facility use, event set up and post event cleaning.

This is a working supervisor position. During the school year, the workday begins at 3 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The shift changes to daytime hours when school is not in session.

The Custodial Supervisor will assure efficient operations meet the needs of school staff, students and the public. This position has a significant amount of contact with faculty, staff and the public, requiring good communication and human relation skills. This position requires the use of independent judgement to deal with a variety of unanticipated problems and concerns. The Custodial Supervisor works under the direction of the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

Temporary, Seasonal Groundskeeper

Thetford Academy announces a search for a temporary and seasonal Groundskeeper. This position maintains the lawns and playing fields at Thetford Academy with a routine mowing schedule, and assists with grounds maintenance, as needed. This position reports to the Director of Buildings & Grounds. Essential job functions include mowing lawns and playing fields; trimming around buildings, fences and other obstacles; assisting with fertilizing and aeration; maintaining mowing equipment (greasing, checking fluid levels, sharpening blades, etc.); and assisting with other grounds related tasks as assigned.

This job will consist of working two days per week, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., from approximately mid- to late May through the end of September 30.

Physical requirements include having the ability to operate sit on, stand on and push mowers; being able to lift 50-plus pounds; having physical flexibility; and being able to stay on one’s feet for eight hours (with appropriate breaks).

Required skills include having a pleasant demeanor, the ability to work as a team member, the ability to modify working days based on grass growth and weather, pride in one’s work and work place, and previous lawn care and commercial mowing experience.

Full-Time Custodian

Thetford Academy announces a search for a full-time Custodian, to work weekdays 3 to 11 p.m. during the school year and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the summer months. The position will begin on July 1.

This position involves cleaning and maintaining the campus buildings and entrances for safe everyday use and making sure the buildings are secure and safe. This position will include occasional maintenance work such as snow removal, grounds work, painting, mowing, etc.

Essential job functions include emptying trash; mopping or vacuuming floors; cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking all bathrooms; making sure faucets, toilets, and lights are working; making sure entrances are clean and safe; disinfecting counter tops and desks; cleaning windows, water fountains, and white boards; waxing floors; running small equipment including buffers, floor machines, and wet vacs; repairing broken desks and chairs; setting up for special events; and other duties as required or assigned.

Physical requirements include having the ability to lift 50-plus pounds; having physical flexibility and the ability to climb stairs and ladders; and being able to stay on one’s feet for eight hours (with appropriate breaks).

Required skills include having a pleasant demeanor, the ability to work as a team member, the ability to modify working days as needed, and pride in one’s work and work place. A high school diploma or equivalent and previous custodial experience are preferred, as is experience working in or around schools.

Part-Time Creative Writing Teacher; Part-Time English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher

Thetford Academy announces a search for two part-time faculty members to teach one section for the 2019-20 school year, as follows:

– Creative Writing – 1 section (0.17 FTE)
– English Language Learning (ELL) – 2 sections (0.25 FTE)

Salary and Benefits will be prorated for the number of sections each faculty member would teach.

Half-time (0.5 FTE) Coordinator of the International Student Program

Thetford Academy announces a search for a half-time International Student Program (ISP) Coordinator.

Duties of the ISP Coordinator include managing all aspects of the international enrollment and matriculation process and maintaining individual ISP student files; maintaining certification as the school’s Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) to create and monitor student records in the US Dept. of Homeland Security’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS) database; responding to a wide range of student needs, including orienting students upon arrival, supporting student integration efforts, planning culturally enriching activities, and overseeing and coordinating international arrival and departure transportation; recruiting, screening, training, and managing Host Families and Respite Families; preparing and monitoring the annual ISP budget; and maintaining visibility on campus through interactions with students and employees.

This position is administrative. It may be combined or separate from the ELL teaching position (or other positions, as openings occur).
