Thetford Academy is a classic New England town academy – an independent school with a public purpose. Founded in 1819, the Academy has long served as the community secondary school for Thetford, VT and neighboring towns. Today, over 300 students in grades 7 through 12 come to TA from towns throughout the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire and from countries around the world, to be a part of this close-knit academic community.
Every day, Thetford Academy strives to fulfill our educational mission to celebrate the worth of all students, to nurture their strengths, and to challenge them to reach their potential. TA’s award-winning faculty are recognized for their innovative teaching practices, dedication to their craft, and deep commitment to student learning.
Thetford Academy asks teachers and students to experiment, stretch their boundaries, and connect with one another as members of a learning community. It is in this environment—where learners are engaged and where diversity is celebrated—that TA students work collaboratively and independently to gain the skills and knowledge to take advantage of life’s opportunities and the tools to overcome its challenges.
