Alert Notification: School Dismissal Extended Through June

The following message was sent to TA families through our emergency notification system via voicemail, email, and text on Friday, March 27 at 1:15 p.m.

Dear Thetford Academy Parents and Guardians,

Late yesterday Vermont Governor Phil Scott ordered schools in our state to extend the dismissal period through June. I imagine that we all need a little time to fully absorb this news and re-envision what our lives will look like this spring.

At TA, we will build on the remote learning plan we developed and implemented in recent weeks and adjust it as needed to ensure we have a long-term plan for 4th quarter that is workable for our students and families and sustainable for our faculty and staff. We will seek your input as part of the process (please look for a parent survey coming out soon), and also use student and teacher feedback as well. We expect to receive further guidance from state education officials regarding the governor’s order and, of course, will take this into account too.

Please look for follow-up communications from me in coming days as we shift gears into a longer-term strategy with Remote TA. For now, I just wanted to be sure to share this important update with everyone through our emergency alert system.

I hope you are all well and thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.

Carrie Brennan, Head of School
