Soccer Season Kicks Off, Heat Disrupts Schedules

TA’s soccer season launched with two home games last week. The Panther girls kicked off on Friday, Sept. 1, with an 2-0 loss to rivals Oxbow. The boys followed on Saturday in their own game v. the Olympians. The Panthers earned first half goals from Mitchell Parkman and Henry Trage and held the Olympians off in the second half to take the win 2-0.

This week’s heat wave caused a disruption in the fall schedule for soccer and cross country – the girls scheduled game v. Blue Mountain was postponed on Tuesday as was the cross country team’s meet at Bellow’s Falls. Blue Mountain forfeited the scheduled boys game, giving the Panthers a 1-0 win.

Up next, this Friday at 4:30 p.m., the Panther girls will travel to Paine Mountain School in Williamstown, then to Lamoille Union on Monday. The boys play next on Tuesday, Sept. 12, also at Paine Mountain. Cross country (middle and high school teams) will kick off with a home meet on Tuesday.

Homecoming is coming up on September 16! Both teams will play Lyndon, with the girls up first at 11 a.m. and the boys following at 1:30 p.m. We’re working on putting together an alumni game, but still need more players! Sign up here to join our 10 a.m. alumni v. alumni game!
