SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Honor Roll
Students with a full program qualify for the Honor Roll. All grades used to calculate Honors will be semester/final grades (including exam grades). Academic Honors will be recognized biannually at the end of each semester.
High Honors: All grades A- or above
(grades 7 and 8 are allowed one grade of B+)
Honors: All grades B or above
Note: “B or above” means B or B+. A grade of B- does not count.
Effort & Attitude Awards
These awards will be presented after the first and third quarters. They will reflect effort and attitude performance in the preceding two quarters (4th/1st, 2nd/3rd). To qualify, students must receive two Effort & Attitude scores of 1 (“exceeds standard”) and all other scores must be 2 (“meets standard”).
Honors Celebration
Each year the Academy recognizes outstanding academic achievement at the annual Honors Celebration. This spring celebration features festive food, a "Speak Chorus" performance, and presentation of awards to the Honors Students.
Invitations go to students who have achieved Honors in both of the preceding two semesters and achieved High Honors at least once. For students in their first year at the Academy, attendance will be based on first semester and third quarter grades.
