TA Students Blaze New Trails

TA Students Blaze New Trails

This summer, Design Technology teacher Chris Schmidt and a team of eight Thetford Academy students spent a week in the woods improving and expanding TA’s trail network.  They enhanced two existing ‘ghost’ trails, now named the Fireplace and Ridge Trails. The crew then added trail signs (designed and created in the Design Tech shop), blazes, two new bridges, and 1200 feet of new trail on Thetford Academy land.

Part of TA’s Environmental Science and Outdoor Education Initiative, the work of the trail crew will help TA students, faculty, and the Thetford community enjoy and learn from the expansive natural resources on Thetford Academy’s 295-acre campus. This year’s trail crew included TA students Conner Tatro, Jonathan Hayes, Emily Emerson, Emma Thorburn, Nate O’Donnell, Georgia Flynn, Shannon Hayes, and Christian Robinson.
